The Sarajevo Canton has issued a public call for the provision of consulting services to conduct energy audits and detailed design for 40 public buildings.

The canton will use a EUR 500,000 grant from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) grant to finance these services, the EBRD said in a request for proposals, adding that the application deadline is October 11. The selected consultant is expected to provide the energy audits of pre-selected buildings for 40 public buildings, and the preparation of conceptual, detailed design and technical specifications for 40 public buildings, the request reads.

The estimated overall duration of the assignment is 7 months.

The services are part of the EUR 13 million GRCFW2 Sarajevo Public Buildings project financed partly by an EUR 8 million EBRD loan.

The project envisages the installation of energy efficiency measures in up to 40 buildings covered by the pre-feasibility study. The expected benefits include a reduction of energy consumption by at least 30% or 14.4 GWh/year, which is equivalent to cost savings of EUR 1 million per year for the Canton’s budget.

The project is also expected to reduce CO2 emissions by around 5,000 tonnes per year. Additional benefits include a higher standard of heating and cooling and, thus, better comfort for the users of these public buildings.
