Tendering has been launched to select a supervision consultant for the solar project implemented by North Macedonia’s state-owned electricity producer ELEM, newly rebranded as ESM.

The deadline to file technical and financial proposals in tendering for the ELEM solar project supervision consultant expires on July 24, according to the EBRD Client e-Procurement Portal (ECEPP).

The assignment’s cost estimate is EUR 100,000 exclusive of VAT.

The deadline in earlier tendering for the supply and installation of the 10 MW Oslomej solar power plant was set at May 10.

The solar power plant is to be built next to the Oslomej coal power plant.

ELEM’s solar project is co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Deputy Prime Minister Koco Angjusev has said that the solar power plant is expected to start producing electricity in 2020.

According to CEO Dragan Minovski, ELEM is working on two more solar PV power plant projects, with an installed capacity of 20 MW each, one in Oslomej and one on the grounds the Bitola coal mining and power generation complex.

Tendering to build PV power plants with combined capacity of 35 MW under way

Earlier this month, the Government of North Macedonia has launched tendering for the construction of solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants with a combined capacity of 35 MW on state land, according to a press release from the Government.

The tendering procedure is simple and transparent, said Angjusev, adding that the land will be awarded to investors that seek the lowest feed-in premiums. The ceiling price is set at EUR 15 per MWh, he said.

Locations are available for solar power plants with a capacity of 10 MW, 5 MW, 2 MW, and 1 MW, which means that not only major investors can compete, according to Angjusev.

The deadline to submit bids is August 21, according to the Government of North Macedonia’s website.
