The Secretariat for Energy, Construction, and Transport of the province of Vojvodina has invited applications for grants to back projects to use solar energy for irrigation.

Registered agricultural producers will be able to compete for a total of RSD 10 million in grants, which can cover up to 80% of investment needed for a single project, but no more than RSD 800,000.

Eligible to apply are individuals and legal entities which are residents of Vojvodina and are registered with the registry of agricultural households and are in active status. The deadline for submitting applications is July 13.

“The incentives can be used for the purchase and installation of new solar irrigation pumps (photovoltaic panels, solar water pumps with controllers, batteries) and other accompanying electrical and mechanical equipment,” according to the text of the invitation.

According to the document, the project aims to support the installation of energy-efficient equipment for the use of solar energy for irrigation, in order to achieve energy savings, reduce dependency on fossil fuel imports, increase the energy self-sufficiency of the households, reduce emissions, encourage the use of renewables, and upgrade the existing irrigation system.
