The Sarajevo Canton government today signed a concession agreement with Suzlon Wind Energy BH, a subsidiary of India’s wind turbine supplier Suzlon Energy, to build and operate a 25.2 MW wind farm, according to a press release on the government’s website.

The Ivan Sedlo-Hadžići wind farm will be the canton’s first. The investment is worth around EUR 30 million, and the canton will award a 30-year concession to Suzlon, said the canton’s Economy Minister Muharem Šabić, adding that the project will generate 25 MWh of electricity annually.

The concession is renewable for up to 15 years, according to the press release.

Šabić also said that the permitting and ownership process will now ensue, adding that construction on the wind farm could begin within a year.

According to the press release, 60% of the concession income will go to the Hadžići municipal coffers and 40% to the budget of the Sarajevo Canton.
