The Energy Community Secretariat and USAID signed a Framework for Cooperation.  As one of Cooperation first deliverables, two sides agreed to organize a meeting of all donors active in the Energy Community Contracting Parties.

A Framework for Cooperation was signed by Director Janez Kopač, on behalf of the Energy Community Secretariat, and Acting Assistant Administrator, Margot B. Ellis, on behalf of USAID, Energy Community portal reported.

Within the Framework for Cooperation, the two institutions agreed to, inter alia, strengthen cooperation in supporting energy sector reforms, improve energy sector governance, promote energy sector investments, including the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.

The Participants intend to cooperate in the Europe and Eurasia Region, including Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine in Eastern Europe; Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia in the South Caucasus; and Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia in the Western Balkans.

“Through strengthening and expanding our cooperation, we will be able to assist the target countries more effectively in reforming their energy sectors in a sustainable way. As one of our first deliverables, we agreed to organize a meeting of all donors active in the Energy Community Contracting Parties in order to align our activities,” Director Kopač said.

Mrs. Ellis noted that the Framework for Cooperation confirms USAID continued commitment to support the integration of the Contracting Parties into the European Union.

This was said at a meeting hosted by Energy Community Secretariat on 24 October 2017 in Vienna.

Public Outreach Concept presented

Upon a request from the Energy Community Secretariat, USAID EIA presented its Public Outreach Concept at the 37th Energy Community Regulatory Board’s Customers and Retail Markets Working Group meeting in June.

The Energy Community is initiating more public outreach activities in energy markets, and the successful preparatory work done in BiH provided a case study for the other Energy Community countries. The Public Outreach Concept is published on the web page of the Energy Community Secretariat.
