The Drvni centar (Wood Center) in the Croatian town of Glina commissioned a new cogeneration plant (CHP) as a part of its wood processing plant. The new power facility has a capacity of 5 MW of electric and 12 MW of heat energy and will help expand the company’s wood drying facilities.

Drvni centar CEO Elmor Baraković said the new energy plant is several times more powerful than the existing plant which has a capacity of 1.2 MW of electrical and 4.5 MW of heat energy. That facility already supplies power and heat to Drvni centar wood processing facilities and several public buildings in the town of Glina which is becoming self-sufficient in terms of power.

The new power facilities will supply energy to the newly-opened furniture industry products plant, Baraković said.

The Drvni centar is owned by the Zagreb-based Sherif company which employs 350 people and is known as one of the leading wood processing companies in the region.

Drvi Centar Glina exports wood products and lumber to several countries in the European Union, Middle East and Asia. The company has eight wood drying plants with a capacity of 125 cubic meters each and five steaming plans with a total capacity of 400 cubic meters.
