The share of electricity prices in the costs of products and doing business has been on the increase, and one of the ways for factory owners to protect their business from power market volatility is to install rooftop solar plants on their manufacturing facilities, Vladimir Popović, general manager of Energize, said at a panel called ‘Solar energy for the industry – reduce the costs, green your business!’ held as part of the First Big Conference on Solar Energy in Serbia.

Rooftop solar is a way for manufacturers to invest in the optimization of production costs, reduce the price of their products, and become more competitive on the global marketplace, according to Popović.

Investing in solar today will bring benefits for industry in the future, when Serbia adopts some new regulations

By investing in solar, industrial electricity consumers can solve the problem of future requirements regarding CO emissions reduction, so they will benefit in a couple of years when Serbia adopts some future regulations in this field.

Also, Popović recalled, investing solar energy is socially responsible behavior, which helps fight climate change and come into line with the Paris Agreement, while ensuring companies a different perception among customers.

The solution to climate change is not out there, like some vaccine – each one of us must do their best

Popović also said that the solution to climate change is not out there, like some vaccine, but that each one of us must do their best in this in this regard. “One small change in our surroundings, multiplied many times over, can make a big difference,” he said.

Energize is a leading system integrator in the energy sector in Serbia, which designs and builds solar power plants, solar and hybrid storage systems, electric vehicle charging systems, and energy management systems (Industry 4.0 standard), among other services.
