Switzerland helps energy efficiency project in Trebinje

The Swiss Foundation Esertek will participate in the financing of the energy efficiency improvement of the Trebinje City Hall worth a total of EUR 280,000.

Trebinje Mayor Luka Petrović said that  Foundation will contribute EUR 128,000 to the project, while the rest of the funds will be provided by the Government of Republika Srpska.

“We want to modernize our City Hall, to equip it with modern systems that will increase energy efficiency,” Petrović said.

He noted that project documentation and feasibility study must be prepared first, and then the works can start. According to Petrović all of this activities will take at least a year and a half.

Trebinje mayor said that the Swiss Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina participates in the implementation of several projects related to the water and sewage system, energy efficiency, support to the non-governmental sector, security, family.

Petrović and Swiss Ambassador to BiH Andrea Rauber Saxer talked about increasing the energy efficiency of the City Hall. Mayor used the opportunity to present to Swiss Ambassador the project of developing a smart city, as well as all the procedures that need to be introduced.

He revealed that Trebinje will apply for the support of this project.

Andrea Rauber Saxer welcomed the efforts of the City of Trebinje to become a smart city.

“I would like to see all cities in BiH aim to become ‘smart cities’ and that the state will become a ‘smart state’,” she said.
