Power utility Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS), the City of Trebinje and SET Trebinje, which are organizing Trebinje Energy Summit – SET 2020, have announced that the event will bring together a large number of decision makers from governments and energy companies from the region, as well as from international financial institutions.

The summit will have its first edition on March 5-6, under the slogan Energy Future of the Western Balkans. SET 2020 is organized under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Srpska and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The organizers also invited all interested companies and individuals to register for this event by submitting an online application, via email address support@setrebinje.com or by phone at +387 59 222 536, by February 28, at the latest.

Nine panels – from geopolitics to renewables to smart energy

Luka Petrović, General Manager of Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske, said in an interview with Balkan Green Energy News that the panel discussions are designed to generate the interest of experts, but also the wider public.

SET 2020 will feature a total of nine panels (SET-2020-Agenda) on a wide range of topics: from the geopolitical perspective of the region in energy to renewable sources to energy efficiency.

According to the organizers, the first panel Transition of the energy sector in the region, will host officials from the governments from the region: the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Ministry of Economy of Montenegro, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy of Croatia,  Ministry of Infrastructure of Slovenia and the Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska, as well as a representative of the Energy Community Secretariat.

They will elaborate on plans and future developments in the sector.

At the panel Regional energy review, CEOs of energy companies in the region Luka Petrović, General Manager of ERS, Marinko Gilja, General Manager of Elektroprivreda Hrvatske Zajednice Herceg-Bosne (EPHZHB), Bajazit Jašarević, General Manager of Elektroprivreda BIH (EPBiH), Milorad Grčić, General Manager of Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), Frane Barbarić, President of the Management Board of Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP), Đoko Krivokapić, President of the Board of Directors of Elektroprivrede Crne Gore (EPCG) and Stojan Nikolić CEO of Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) will present their development plans.

Representatives of regional power exchanges CROPEX, SEEPEX and BSP, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERK) of BiH and energy traders EFT and HEP Trgovina will bring their views during a discussion at the panel Southeast European energy market.

Business and financing models in the energy sector panel will be the opportunity to hear from representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), German development bank (KfW) and other IFIs active in the region.

Officials from the Ministry for Scientific-Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of Srpska, the UNDP Smart City project, as well as from the companies BH Telekom, Weledy and Prointer Banja Luka are the main participants on the panel Smart cities and digital transformation.

The panel Renewables potentials in the region will gather representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Industry of the Federation of BiH, Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska and the Directorate for Energy and Energy Efficiency of Montenegro to discuss this important topic jointly.

The sixth panel Renewable energy and financing of energy efficiency will host officials from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund of the Republika Srpska, the Environmental Fund of the Federation of BiH, USAID, GIZ, UNDP, ESCO company Resalta and the EBRD.

The 3Smart and Sincro.Grid projects will be the themes at the panel on modern networks and smart energy, which will also include the presentations of Croatian transmission system operator HOPS, Siemens and Elnos Group.

The ninth panel Development of e-mobility infrastructure and smart grids will be discussed by representatives of companies Hager, EP Mobile, and Centrotrans, as well as the Electromobility Association.
