The Energy Community Secretariat in consultation with a network of academic and research institutions of the participating countries has selected the participants of the 2018 Energy Community Summer School.  Out of a record 269 applications submitted, 241 applicants met the selection criteria, of which the 40 most qualified were selected.

Ensuring gender and geographical balance, the number of successful applicants is split equally between men and women from 31 countries. The selected participants come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including government, postgraduate studies, research institutions, academia, private sector and non-governmental organisations. Twenty-eight participants hold a master’s degree (or are in the enrollment process), 11 hold a PhD and one is an Assistant Professor.

The 2018 Summer School is organized by the Energy Community Secretariat in cooperation with the Višegrad Fund and the Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe – Energy Efficiency (ORF-EE), which is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Comenius University Bratislava; Jagiellonian University, Krakow; Masaryk University, Brno, REKK, Budapest and Polis University, Tirana act as project partners since 2016. DOOR and Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split joined the team in 2018.

The third Energy Community Summer School will take place in Split, Croatia, from August 25 to September 1.
