European Sustainable Energy Awards recognize exceptional individuals, innovations, and achievements in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency across Europe. They promote best practices and raise awareness of sustainable energy solutions and projects contributing to Europe’s decarbonization. If you see yourself in this description, you can apply until January 30.

The European Sustainable Energy Week – EUSEW is the largest event dedicated to renewable energy sources and efficient energy use in Europe.

EUSEW2025 encompasses a range of diverse events, including the EUSEW Awards ceremony. The European Sustainable Energy Awards competition aims to highlight the success of projects, both individual and collective efforts, that achieve outstanding results in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Anyone in the EU can apply with their recent project, from a local initiative to an industry-wide program. Additionally, individuals who help citizens, industries, or the public sector achieve the goals of the European Green Deal are eligible for EUSEW Awards.

Winners will be selected through public voting.

Interested parties can apply directly or nominate someone with an exceptional impact on the energy transition in one of three categories: Innovation, Local Energy Action, and Women in Energy.

Applications are open until January 30, 2025. Finalists are selected by a high-level jury, which will evaluate applications based on three criteria: concept, implementation, and impact. The maximum score for each criterion is ten points. Winners will be selected through public voting.

The awards aim to highlight new and innovative ways of shaping Europe’s energy future. The ceremony will culminate during the EUSEW Policy Conference. This time, the event will be held in a hybrid format, with participants and speakers able to attend both online and in person in Brussels from June 10 to 12. The awards ceremony will take place on the first day of the conference.

Last year’s EUSEW Award winners

Last year, Austrian company Photorama won in the Innovation category. The company developed a circular model for recycling old solar panels, enabling the reuse of materials such as silver, indium, and silicon.

Centrales Villageoises received the award in the Local Energy Action category. Citizens participating in the French initiative unite in local cooperative enterprises to undertake renewable energy and energy efficiency projects at the community level.

Architect Rita Gomes won in the Women in Energy category. Using dye-sensitive solar cells, she transforms household objects into devices that produce renewable energy. Gomes is the director of the award-winning startup Seenergy in Porto, Portugal.
