The Hellenic Energy Exchange (HEnEx) published its annual report for 2025, including data on power purchase agreements as part of its dedicated digital platform.
The total number of offers for PPA contracts last year was 36. In energy terms, they reached 35.6 TWh. Interest was expressed in 27, while 22 were actually accepted.
At least one expression of interest was submitted for 64% of the offers: five out of the 13 buy offers (38%) and 18 out of 23 the sell offers (78%). Furthermore, 19 out of the 23 offers (83%) that received an expression of interest resulted in at least one accepted expression of interest each.
It is also notable that more than 53% of PPA offers submitted, led to negiations outside the PPA platform. Geographically, 64% of the offers referred to Greece as the production or consumption country.
Regarding the contracts’ tenure, 11 out of the 13 buy offers sought five years or less, and 17 out of the 23 sell offers were for six to ten years.
Buyers almost exclusively offered physical PPAs, while sellers opted for the physical and virtual PPA option. In the end, the majority of interest was expressed for the physical and virtual PPAs.
When it comes to renewables technologies, 17 out of the 23 sell offers were for solar PPAs, with or without storage. Additionally, there were six offers in the case of wind.
More attractive terms for PPA off-takers
The Hellenic Energy Exchange plans to make the PPA platform more attractive to participants. In March it announced that new off-takers will be exempted from paying the initial registration fee of EUR 500, while gaining from a 50% discount from their annual subscription.
A special offer includes a free annual subscription if the off-taker submits at least one offer every two months during this year.
Currently, the platform has 26 members, with four more to be included in the near future.
