Eksim Energy launched production at its new 70 MW wind power plant in Karaman province in southern Turkey. The facility consists of ten turbines, generating an estimated 280 GWh per year.

After nearly doubling its electricity capacity last year, Eksim Energy said it recently also expanded its wind power plants Susurluk, Hasanbeyli and Ovacık. The latest addition is the 70 MW wind park in the Karaman district of the eponymous province.

The facility will generate an estimated 280 GWh per year, according to project documentation. Also known as R3-Karaman-1, it consists of ten Nodex turbines. The company said the output would be equivalent to the needs of 110,000 households. The wind park is near the villages of Aybastı, Özdemir, Bucakkışla and Narlıdere.

Eksim Energy, or Eksim Enerji, is part of Eksim Holding and headquartered in Istanbul. The latest additions placed it into the top three in the country in wind power capacity, Chief Executive Officer Arkın Akbay said.

The company will develop its portfolio in Turkey with a focus on storage-backed power plants, capacity increases and the integration of photovoltaics, he revealed. A solar power investment in Georgia is nearing completion, Akbay added.

Eksim Energy generated 2.3 TWh last year, enough to cover the energy consumption of 960,000 households, according to the update.

Germany-based KfW IPEX-Bank said last year that it approved EUR 69 million for Eksim Enerji’s wind power projects Karaman and Yozgat, for 126 MW overall. German export credit agency Euler Hermes covered the financing.

The company won government support in 2022 for both endeavors at the YEKA RES-3 wind power auction, under the Renewable Energy Zones (REZ or YEKA) mechanism. A total of six projects developed by Eksim Energy were selected in the round, for 260 MW altogether. Three months ago, it won a 110 MW project at the REZ WPP 2025 (YEKA RES 2025) auction.
