The number of electric vehicles in Bulgaria has grown 36%, to a total of 497 between 2012 and 2014, a report on the progress of Bulgaria’s national plan for eco-friendly mobility found.

Meanwhile, hybrid vehicles were even more popular, as their number increased with 61%, to 1,031 in total.

The report attributes growth to tax exemptions granted to owners of electric cars. The improved tax environment has also led to a significant spur of foreign investors’ interest in developing production of car components in Bulgaria.
