A conditional contract was signed by German-based Senvion SE and Elicio NV for the delivery, installation and commissioning of MM100 turbines of 2 MW for the 42 MW wind farm Alibunar in Serbia. Works should be complete in two years, the manufacturer said after the deal was struck at WindEnergy Hamburg fair.

The site for the facility is close to wind power project Malibunar, for which Senvion already closed another conditional deal with the same customer for four MM100s with a total capacity of 8 MW. The company added it will take care of servicing for 15 years. Elicio owns local firms Electrawinds S d.o.o. and Electrawinds Mali WF d.o.o.

“We are particularly happy to be working with Elicio NV again, after cooperating on two projects in France and Belgium before,” said Jochen Magerfleisch, executive vice president of Senvion, and said the new project marks the company’s entry into the market in Serbia and Eastern Europe, after recently it expanded operations in South America, Asia and Northern Europe. Alibunar is located at the territory of a village of the same name 60 kilometres north of capital Belgrade. The 21 turbines, which have hub height of 100 metres, are designed to meet power demand of 27,600 households on average, the statement said.

“The signing of this conditional agreement is an important milestone for the realization of our renewable energy projects in Serbia. With Senvion we will have a partner who will help us to deliver on our objectives,” stressed Ludo Vandervelden, Elicio’s general manager.

During the first days of the event in Germany’s second-largest city, Senvion has presented new steel and hybrid towers as well as upgrades of its Eco Blade Control and NES turbines. The company’s turbines have outputs of 2 MW to 6.15 MW and rotor diameters of 82 metres to 152 metres. The systems are designed at the Senvion TechCenter in Osterrönfeld and manufactured at its German plants in Husum (North Friesland), Trampe (Brandenburg) and Bremerhaven, as well as in Portugal. Operational subsidiary Senvion GmbH is based in Hamburg and represented by distribution partners, subsidiaries and participations in European markets such as France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy, Romania, Portugal, Sweden, and Poland as well as on a global level in the United States, China, Australia, Japan, India and Canada. Senvion SA is listed in Frankfurt.
