Chief Technical Officer of Montenegro’s state-owned power utility EPCG Zoran Šljukić became acting CEO, replacing Nikola Rovčanin. He is also managing the reconstruction of Pljevlja, the country’s only coal-fired power plant.

The Board of Directors of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) decided at an extraordinary meeting today that Zoran Šljukić is becoming the acting chief executive officer. He was appointed to lead the state-owned joint stock company because CEO Nikola Rovčanin stepped down after becoming a member of the Parliament of Montenegro.

Šljukić was born in 1985 in the town of Pljevlja, which hosts the eponymous coal plant, the only one in the country. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in the capital Podgorica.

The new acting CEO joined Elektroprivreda Crne Gore in 2010. He mostly worked in the Pljevlja plant, where he was the chief engineer in the technical operational system and the head of the exploitation sector, the utility said.

Last year Šljukić became the chief of operations of EPCG, and after that the chief technical officer. In addition, he is the manager of the ongoing ecological reconstruction of the Pljevlja coal plant. He is married and has three children.
