Public Power Corp., based in Greece, bought an 84 MW wind power plant in Romania from Lukoil Group.

PPC is wrapping up the agreed takeover of Enel’s entire portfolio in Romania, but it is not stopping there. The coal and power producer and electricity supplier, partly controlled by the Greek government, announced that it signed a deal for the acquisition of a wind park in Romania.

The company said it is buying a special purpose vehicle called Land Power from Lukoil Group, headquartered in Russia. The project firm runs an 84 MW system located in the Dobruja (Dobrogea) province in the country’s east. The wind park in the communes of Dorobanțu and Topolog generates more than 200 GWh per year, according to PPC Renewables. It spans 470 hectares.

The Greek company’s green energy arm added that it was picked in an international tender. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter, the statement adds.

“With this acquisition, we strengthen our footprint in the Balkan Peninsula and take another step towards the implementation of our development program, with the goal of becoming the leading clean energy company in Southeast Europe,” Chief Executive Officer of PPC Renewables Konstantinos Mavros said.

The Dorobanțu-Topolog wind power plant was commissioned in 2014.
