Anastasia-Maria Moschovi has a PhD in chemical engineering and she brings energy innovation to Greece. As head of research, development and innovation at a company called Monolithos in Athens, she leads several EU-funded projects in the development of innovative technologies in hydrogen production, green energy production and storage, electric vehicles and industrial decarbonization.

Moschovi is one of the finalists in the EUSEW Awards competition in the Woman in Energy category. She is one of the two finalists from Southeastern Europe and Balkan Green Energy News is presenting them.

“I believe that we are equally responsible for the energy that we consume and the energy we have to save,” Anastasia-Maria Moschovi said. In her work, she focuses on recovering critical raw materials from end-of-life devices in order to produce new inputs for electrification, and on hydrogen-based technology applications, she explained.

She expressed the belief that businesses and ultimately the citizens of Athens will be able to adopt these solutions, leading to a lower CO2 footprint and reduced production costs. “My main goal is to find the most significant bottlenecks in bringing research results to real-life applications in order to help with the energy transition”, she said.

Moschovi is a role model to her team of 15 young researchers. “Anastasia-Maria maintains an inclusive and democratic work environment and she is very supportive of women in business, always pushing them to achieve their professional goals”, said Eirini Zagaraiou, a research and innovation scientist in Monolithos.

“In our team, more than 66% of the high-level positions are occupied by women. We truly believe in women in engineering and research roles and support them in this”, Anastasia-Maria Moschovi explained.
