The local authority in Cetinje and the company Sun Horizon, owned by CWP Europe, have signed a framework agreement on cooperation and the implementation of socially responsible activities regarding the development and implementation of the Montechevo solar power project.

Montechevo will be one of the largest investments in renewables in Montenegro and bring multiple benefits to Cetinje and the entire country, according to the municipal administration. The contract was signed by CWP Europe’s Executive Vice President Maja Turković and Deputy Mayor Miloš Mudreša.

Sun Horizon has secured a EUR 150,000 budget for socially responsible activities. The funds will be paid during the development of the project and the detailes will be defined in a separate contract.

CWP Europe, through its subsidiary Sun Horizon, plans to install the Montechevo solar power plant with a total capacity of 400 MW in the cadastre municipalities of Lastva, Čevo and Prentin Do on the territory of Montenegro’s historic capital.

Once installed, Montechevo would be the largest solar power plant in Montenegro

The investment is estimated at EUR 360 million. It is envisaged to be implemented in phases.

The start of construction is scheduled for 2025. Upon completion and commissioning, which is expected at the end of 2026, Montechevo will be the largest solar power plant in Montenegro, according to the local authority.

The two parties agreed to establish cooperation in promoting and contracting local firms, improving the local infrastructure, hiring workers from the territory of Cetinje if they meet the requirements, and establishing cooperation with local suppliers.

Sun Horizon vowed to develop and implement a plan for the socially responsible activities

According to the city, Sun Horizon undertook the obligation to develop and implement a plan for socially responsible activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of the local authority as well as the improvement of Cetinje as an environmentally conscious community. The support would be provided in the form of donations for environmental, economic, social and social goals.

Also, the firm has committed to opening an info center in Cetinje to enable all interested parties to get the necessary information related to the photovoltaic project.

CWP Europe is developing a project portfolio of an overall 6 GW
