Interenergo Group to enhance energy efficiency in three Serbian municipalities

Interenergo Group launched three public lighting renovation projects in Serbia in the past month. It closed energy contracting deals with the municipalities of Čoka, Odžaci and Bač and strengthened its presence in the region that way. Such energy efficiency improvement projects are an important part of the region’s green transition mosaic.

The municipalities of Čoka, Odžaci and Bač in the north of Serbia have decided to begin the green transition in partnership with Interenergo Group. In the past month, they all signed the contracts for the renovation of their obsolete and inefficient public lighting through the energy contracting model.

Interenergo is tasked with the replacement of their aged street lamps with technologically advanced and energy-efficient LED lights. The renovation will bring large energy savings over the 15 years of the contract duration, translating to a lower environmental impact.

All three endeavors will be conducted in cooperation with Hungarian company Smart Energy Investment. The public-private partnerships include maintenance services.

Odžaci to save up to EUR 167,000 per year

The estimated energy savings in the Čoka municipality are 611 MWh per year compared to as much as 1,271 MWh in Odžaci and 756 MWh for the municipality of Bač. In addition to environmental benefits, the renovation brings large financial savings for the municipalities, in the range of EUR 90,000 per year in Čoka to EUR 167,000 in Odžaci. Interenergo executed its first energy contracting project in Serbia in 2022 by renovating public lighting in the Osečina municipality.

In addition, Interenergo estimated the annual savings in maintenance in Odžaci at EUR 24,000 per year.

Interenergo is expanding its range of services, energy models

Even though the group already has a strong presence in the region in the renewable energy production sphere, it intends to widen its energy services portfolio. In energy contracting projects, the service is fully adjusted to the partners’ needs and relieves them of the organizational and financial burdens of the project, the announcement reads.
