Vasko Stefanov assumed the leadership of North Macedonia’s state-owned electricity company Elektrani na Severna Makedonija as chief executive officer.

Former head Vasko Kovačevski has resigned from the position of chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of ESM in April. Kovačevski cited personal reasons and the intention to spend more time with his family.

At the handover ceremony, Kovačevski and Stefanov wished each other success in the upcoming challenges.

Stefanov said it is a great honor to be appointed as the new company head and that he had a good meeting with his predecessor. ESM will continue to prepare for the next heating season, he asserted.

ESM also got a new finance chief

Before his current position, Vasko Stefanov was the head of government-controlled postal company Pošta na Severna Makedonija and water management utility Vodostopanstvo na Republika Severna Makedonija, as well as the deputy director of the state employment agency.

Former CEO Kovačevski was appointed in 2019. Previously he was at the helm of the REK Bitola mining and thermal power plant complex, a subsidiary of ESM.

ESM also got a new finance chief, Marija Pejkova. She took over from Dobrila Stefanova, who has retired.

The new top officials were appointed by the Supervisory Board after the government gave its consent.
