Earthday.org is attempting its farthest-reaching efforts so far in the runup to Earth Day 2023, amplifying inspiration and action worldwide from April 14 to April 22. There is unlimited opportunity to right the wrongs of past actions and build a new version of society, but the window of time is very short, the organization stressed.
In the runup to April 22, the first-ever Earth Week consists of virtual events and gatherings, from the world’s largest dive in Hawaii to a rally in London where 100,000 people will take to the streets to demand action against the climate crisis, according to announcements.

Every learner in every school in the world should receive fully integrated, assessed climate and environmental education with a strong civic engagement component, according to Earthday.org. Climate and environmental literacy, coupled with strong civic education, will create jobs, build a green consumer market and allow citizens to engage with their governments in a meaningful way to address the climate crisis, the campaigners said.

Global cleanup to end plastic pollution
End Plastic Pollution is another major global effort under the Earth Day brand. It aims to help people understand the impacts of plastic pollution on human and ecosystem health and how everyday actions can lessen the problem.
The campaign draws attention to the harmful effects of plastic in our environment — harming marine and human health, littering beaches and landscapes and clogging waste streams and landfills. Whether it’s during Earth Week or on any other day of the year, private and public Great Global Cleanup events are held and advertised through the network.
Environmentalist initiative Eko straža and other partner organizations are preparing the biggest cleanup event ever in Serbia
In the region tracked by Balkan Green Energy News, Eko straža is preparing what it estimates would be the biggest cleanup ever in Serbia. The environmentalist initiative and its partner organizations will collect trash at 135 locations on April 22. It is the tenth coordinated event of its kind in the country.
According to the global map, several more cleanup events have been scheduled in Southeastern Europe: in Croatia, Kosovo*, Bulgaria, Turkey and Cyprus.

It is the imaginary point in time when we exceed sustainable consumption of the Earth’s environmental resources and services. Last year the Earth Overshoot Day was July 28. According to the list of national overshoot days, Slovenia is up first again in the Balkans this year – on April 18. As usual, Albania fares the best. Its date is November 3.
