Dubai-based Origin to manufacture, install EV chargers in Serbia

Origin said it would start manufacturing and installing electric car charging stations in Serbia. The company is presenting its ultrafast chargers at the International Motor Show in Belgrade.

The manufacturing of charging stations for battery-powered road vehicles is scheduled to begin this spring in cooperation with domestic firm SLED rasveta i razvodi from Zrenjanin, according to the announcement. It provides engineering and consulting services for mid- and low-voltage electric installations and energy distribution.

“Our joint production with the firm SLED will be conducted at a modern factory in Novi Sad, which will not only enable the manufacturing of products for local and European markets but also quality maintenance support for buyers – owners of commercial e-vehicle fleet,” Cofounder of Origin Samvel Avetisyan said.

Ultrafast charging station

The ultrafast station is designed to be practical, the company said. It has a capacity of up to 200 kW so an electric car battery is filled to as much as 80% in just 15 minutes, the statement adds. The station can be equipped with several connectors to enable compatibility with a large number of models of electric vehicles, Origin said.

The units are envisaged to be set up on highways and between cities. They are operational at temperatures between minus 40 and 50 degrees Celsius above zero, the company pointed out. It is built robust and with an advanced cooling system, securing safety and longevity, Origin claimed.

The company’s software platform handles 300 parameters of the charging station and enables remote diagnostics without the need to send engineers to the location, by eliminating malfunctions in a timely manner, Avetisyan explained. The station’s modular design and simple maintenance can lower repair costs by 40% and cut the investment return period by a year and a half, he added.

Origin was founded in 2017. It is headquartered in Dubai and has production facilities in Turkey and Serbia, the update reads.
