State-owned energy company Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske has been granted a concession for the construction of the Trebinje 2 photovoltaic facility with an installed capacity of 53 MW.

Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) has already received a concession for the installation of the Trebinje 1 solar power plant two years ago, so this is its second project for the use of solar energy.

The concession contract for the construction and operation of the Trebinje 2 solar power plant was signed by Petar Đokić, Minister of Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska, Luka Petrović, General Manager of ERS, and Jovica Vlatković, Executive Director for Investments and Development in ERS, said the ministry.

The concession was granted for a period of 50 years

The total value of the investment is estimated at BAM 84.2 million (about EUR 41 million).

Minister Đokić stated that the plan is to install a solar power plant with a capacity of 53.63 MW, while the expected annual production is 85.5 GWh. The concession was granted for a period of 50 years.

ERS paid a one-time fee to the budget of the Republic of Srpska, and after the installation of the PV plant, ERS will pay a concession fee in the amount of EUR 0.0028 per kilowatt-hour of electricity produced. About 95% of the fee will be directed to the budget of the Municipality of Trebinje.

Of note, ERS hasn’t started the construction of the Trebinje 1 project yet. In the meantime, ERS announced that Hungarian energy company Lugos Renewables would become the owner of 70% of the project, while the remainder will be controlled by ERS.
