CWP Global has made progress with three new renewable energy projects in Serbia with 680 MW in total electricity generation capacity. The company’s project Lederata Energy will be a hybrid power plant consisting of a 50 MW solar park, a 100 MW wind farm and an energy storage system of 20 MWh.
CWP Global intends to combine solar and wind power technologies with a storage and install Serbia’s first hybrid power plant. The location of future Lederata Energy facilities comprises sites in Požarevac and Veliko Gradište in the country’s east. The company estimated the investment at EUR 200 million.
According to the announcement from the company, the project will be built in phases. The start of construction is planned for the first quarter of 2025, while the facility should be completed and commissioned at the beginning of 2027.
Lederata Energy to generate 380 GWh of electricity per year
The solar power segment is projected at 50 MW, while wind turbines would have 100 MW of overall capacity. CWP Global said the storage unit at Lederata Energy would have 20 MWh. According to the update, the gross annual output is estimated at 380 GWh, which can fully cover the electricity demand of more than 90,000 households in Serbia.
The green electricity produced in this power facilities will reduce CO2 emissions for 410.400 tons annually, which represents direct support to Serbia’s energy transition process, according to CWP Global.
The Assembly of the City of Požarevac recently voted to start drafting the detailed regulation plan for Lederata Energy for 114 hectares. The deadline for the job is six months.
Equinox Power solar PV plant will be built in Kula
The Municipality of Kula in Serbia’s north has made an equivalent decision for CWP Global’s solar power plant Equinox Power of 80 MW.
The detailed regulation plan also must be produced within half a year and the area spans 652 hectares in Kula and Ruski Krstur. The company values the investment at EUR 80 million.
The company is waiting for detailed regulation plans in Požarevac and Kula and a spatial plan for a special purpose area for its Vetrogon wind power project in Srbobran and Bečej
The company plans to start the construction of Equinox Power in the third quarter of 2024, while the completion and the works is expected to take place at the end of the same year.
Annual production is estimated at 136 GWh, CWP Global revealed to Balkan Green Energy News.
Vetrogon wind project of 450 MW
The company has also progressed with the Vetrogon, the wind power project with the biggest capacity of all six CWP Global’s renewable energy projects currently under development. The future biggest wind power plant in Serbia will be built in the country’s northern province of Vojvodina in the municipalities of Srbobran and Bečej.
The facility’s maximum capacity is planned to be 450 MW, while the value of the investment is EUR 600 million, CWP Global said.
The launch of construction is scheduled to start in late 2025. The company is ambitious to commission the facility in 2028, early in the year. It announced that Vetrogon would generate 1.1 TWh per annum.
At 450 MW, Vetrogon would now be the biggest wind farm in the country
The Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina has adopted the proposal to produce a spatial plan for a special purpose area for Vetrogon.
Among other endeavors in Serbia, CWP Global is developing plans for its photovoltaic plants Solarina and Kima Solar, at 150 MW and 50 MW, respectively, and wind farm Vetrozelena, which would have 300 MW in capacity.
The total capacity of the company’s development projects exceeds 1 GW, or in exact figures, 1,180 MW. CWP Global’s portfolio in Serbia is the most significant developer portfolio in a single country in the region.
The company said it is working on renewable energy projects of more than 2 GW in combined capacity in Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine.
