Enel Green Power Romania is looking for contractors for a 370 MW solar power plant in Romania’s Arad county. It is the first part of its 681 MW project, for which it obtained grid connection approvals for 666 MW.

Swedish-Monégasque businessman Emanuel Muntmark sold two project firms in Romania last year to Enel Green Power Romania or EGPR, which is now preparing to install the first segment of the Nădab solar park, Profit.ro reported. It is one of Italy-based Enel’s subsidiaries in the country. EGPR has obtained a grid connection approval for 364 MW while the planned capacity in the documentation is 370 MW.

The entire endeavor in Arad county in Romania’s west is envisaged with 681 MW in installed capacity. Transmission system operator Transelectrica issued both connection permits in August, for 666 MW in total. They expire at the end of 2024.

EGPR has applied for funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for Nădab 1

Nădab 1, located on 381 hectares in Chișinău Criș, is planned to consist of 622,000 panels. EGPR has applied for funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP or PNRR).

Solas Electricity, the special purpose vehicle (SPV) through which the first project is being developed, has published calls for contractors for electrical works (EUR 102 million) and building substations and high-voltage lines (EUR 30.8 million). It is also looking for suppliers of transformers, with a budget of EUR 11.5 million, and high-voltage and fiber optic cables (EUR 4.6 million in total).

The budget for contracting works in the current public calls amounts to EUR 149 million

Enel Green Power Romania gave the firm a capital boost of EUR 3.5 million last month. The company has an operating capacity of 534 MW in the country, mostly in wind power plants.

Dara Solar Investment is in charge of the Nădab 2 solar power plant near Macea. The project is for 521,700 panels on 300 hectares.

Emanuel Muntmark’s Monsson Group has developed the 600 MW Fântânele-Cogealac system, the largest onshore wind farm in the European Union.

Taken together, Nădab 1 and 2 are one of the largest solar power projects in Europe. EGPR agreed several deals and takeovers in Romania last year with Muntmark and his company, mostly for wind park projects.
