Power utility Elektroprivreda HZHB (EPHZHB) issued a public call for the purchase of electricity from renewable energy power plants connected to its distribution grid.

EPHZHB has taken a similar step as Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH), the first state-owned electricity producer in the region to announce the intention to purchase electricity from renewable sources.

Both power utilities are owned by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the two entities making up BiH. The other one is the Republic of Srpska.

EPHZHB, based in Mostar, set the conditions in its decision from August 25.

Only producers are eligible to sell electricity to EPHZHB

Eligible sellers have an electricity production license and the status of a qualified producer. Both documents are issued by the Regulatory Commission for Energy in FBiH (FERK).

The producers interested in a deal must not have a sales contract with the Operator for Renewable Energy Sources and Efficient Cogeneration (Operator za OIEiEK) or another entity on the power market, the invitation reads.

The price at which EPHZHB will buy electricity is EUR 0.13 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

The initiative for signing the electricity purchase agreement must be submitted by a producer of electricity from renewable sources.
