The Ministry of Environment and Energy approved for the solar thermal power station being planned by Nur Energie and Motor Oil Hellas to be increased in capacity and land size, Energy Press reported.

The joint venture is developing the concentrated solar power (CSP) project in Crete, in the Lasithi prefecture’s Atherinolakos area.

The capacity is set to be boosted from 38 MW to 52 MW and land size from 91 hectares to 170. The development was enabled by amendments to regulatory network management regulations for non-interconnected islands. The initial approval was issued in August 2011. The venture was founded in 2009 and the equity capital amounts to EUR 675,000.

Nur Energie is controlled by United States–based fund Armonia Llc and Low Carbon Ltd., renewable energy investment company headquartered in Britain. Besides the Greek market, Nur Energie is also present in Tunisia, Morocco, Italy, France and India.
