German renewable energy company wpd, one of the most active investors in renewable energy in the region, has secured concession agreements for the construction of two wind farms with a capacity of 264 MW in Canton 10 or Herzeg-Bosnia County in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The concession agreements for wind farms Čadilj and Marino Brdo represent the beginning of the implementation of a regional wind farm system with 1.2 GW in total in BiH and Croatia, announced in mid-2019. Power plants with a capacity of 1,1 GW will be built in BiH.
The concession contract for the construction of wind farms Čadilj and Marino Brdo was signed by the company Vjetroelektrane Dah planine with the Government of Canton 10. The firm’s director is Zoran Obradović, and it is owned by wpd.
The government announced that the wind farms would be located on the territory of the municipalities of Glamoč and Bosansko Grahovo.
The annual concession fees will be 1.75% and 1.78% of the two wind parks’ gross revenue
The contract was signed by Minister of Economy Dijana Puzigaća, on behalf of the Government of Canton 10.
One concession agreement is for the construction of wind farm Čadilj, located in the municipality of Glamoč, with a capacity of 138 MW. It will pay a one-off concession fee of EUR 31,000 and 1.75% of its annual gross revenue from the generated electricity.
Wpd was also awarded a concession agreement for the construction of the 126 MW Marino Brdo wind farm, which will be built in the municipality of Bosansko Grahovo. The one-off concession fee is EUR 28,000, while the annual concession fee is 1.78% of the gross revenue from the generated electricity.
Wpd: We expect additional developments soon regarding the regional wind farm system
The contracts were concluded for 30 years, exclusively for the purpose of producing electricity in wind farms, the government said.
Wpd announced that it expects new achievements soon in the implementation of the regional wind farm system that it is developing in BiH and Croatia. The prerequisites for legal certainty and project development in other locations have been met, it added.
Wpd is building the Brajići wind farm in Montenegro, and a 400 MW wind power plant in North Macedonia. As for the entire region, the utility currently operates four wind farms in Croatia, with a total capacity of 100 MW. Recently it signed the first commercial power purchase agreement (PPA) in Croatia.
