wpd Adria, a subsidiary of German renewable energy company wpd, is developing wind farms Kruzi, Vaganj, Glamoč and Marino Brdo with a total installed capacity of 1,074 MW in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Zoran Obradović, director, and Ivan Šutalo, project manager of wpd Adria, presented plans for the projects to Prime Minister of the Hercegbosanska County or Canton 10 Ivan Vukadin.

wpd Adria already runs four wind farms in Croatia with a total capacity of 100 MW, and in mid-2019 it announced it would build an integrated wind farm system in the Livno-Grahovo-Knin area. The Vučipolje wind farm is included. The company is currently constructing the Brajići wind farm in Montenegro.

The Kruzi and Vaganj projects would have an overall capacity of 810 MW compared 138 MW for Glamoč and 126 MW for Marino Brdo

According to the representatives of wpd Adria, the company’s main goals are investments in renewable energy projects, and Hercegbosanska county was highlighted as a very good geographical area for the construction of wind farms.

Obradović and Šutalo presented projects for the construction of wind farms Kruzi and Vaganj in Livno, with a total installed capacity of 810 MW, Glamoč wind farm in Glamoč municipality with a total installed capacity of 138 MW and the 126 MW Marino Brdo wind farm in the municipality of Bosansko Grahovo.

The local community is a very important part of the wind farm projects

Prime Minister Ivan Vukadin said that the government would do its best to remove the administrative barriers for the implementation of the wind farm projects in Hercegbosanska county.

He also said the role of the local community is very important in such endeavors and that it can affect the implementation of the entire project. But there are multiple benefits for local municipalities from the construction of wind farms, he added.

Representatives of wpd Adria said the wind farm projects bring long-term benefits to local authorities through direct budget revenues.

They added the company encourages sustainable development of the community, especially through donations for children, preservation of natural and cultural heritage and the development of organic agriculture.
