Renewable energy company CWP intends to build a 150 megawatt (MW) solar power plant near Zaječar, the largest one in its pipeline in Serbia. It will be the company’s second photovoltaic facility in Serbia, as it is also developing a 50 MW project near Sjenica.
The city authorities in Zaječar have published the detailed regulation plan for the solar power plant Solarina and the report on the strategic environmental impact assessment of the plan. Interested parties are be able to get an insight into the documents in the premises of the City of Zaječar and on the city’s website until March 14. It is also the deadline for sending comments.
CWP told Balkan Green Energy News that the entire project includes the construction of a new 110 kV substation and transmission line.
The project envisages solar panels with single axis trackers, which allows them to to follow the path of the Sun
The expected annual production of electricity is 265 GWh, enough to supply 48,000 Serbian households, and reduce CO2 emissions by 286,200 tons per year, the company said.
In order to use the most of the sun’s power, the construction of the power plant envisages the installation of solar panels with single axis trackers in order to track the path of the Sun and double-sided solar panels. The advanced technical solutions will contribute to the long-term efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the project.
CWP: Our priority are good relations with local communities and environmental protection
According to CWP, Solarina is one of its key projects under development and it will help Serbia and the region in the transition to clean energy and contribute to environmental protection.
Good relations with local communities and environmental protection are priorities for CWP, the company stressed and added the detailed regulation plan and the strategic EIA report have been carefully prepared in order to develop the project without any negative impact on the environment.
The facility will consist of three units
Solarina should consist of three units, which will span 409 hectares. The location of the power plant is in the vicinity of the villages of Salaš, Mala Jasikova and Dubočane.
Total planned power of the solar power plant is about 150 MW, and the individual power of solar panels will be defined during the technical elaboration of the project in line with the phases of realization, as well as technical characteristics of certain types of solar panels that will be installed.
Of note, it is the second solar power plant in the pipeline near Zaječar. Only a month earlier, the local authorities published the same documentation for a 50 MW solar power plant planned by Belgrade-based Energy Network.
