A local company from BiH Eco-Wat intends to install a 150 MW solar park near Stolac in the Herzegovina region. It is the biggest photovoltaic facility in the making in official procedure in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The documentation in the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina revealed a solar power plant of 150 MW could be installed in phases in the municipality of Stolac. Investors lately showed progress in developing several projects of the kind, while this one would be the biggest in the country.

There are still no utility-scale photovoltaic units in BiH, consisting of the Federation of BiH and the Republic of Srpska.

As for the Herzegovina region in the south, Etmax has just won the concession to construct a 60 MW solar power plant near Nevesinje, while state-owned Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) should start the works on its 71 MW Trebinje 1 solar power plant in the spring.

Furthermore, Dongfang Electric was hired by EFT to build the Bileća solar power plant of 60 MW. Another government-controlled electricity producer has plans to add a 36 MW photovoltaic plant to its wind power plant Podveležje in the Mostar area. According to a recent announcement, solar park Zvizdan, with a capacity of 23 MW, will be installed close to Tomislavgrad in Herzegovina.

Eco-Wat, the investor in the 150 MW facility in Stolac, submitted a request to the federal ministry for a preliminary environmental impact assessment for its transformer project Hodovo of 220/20 kV with three substations of up to 60 MVA each and a 220 kV overhead power line of 3.2 kilometers to the existing Trebinje-Mostar link.

Only two power substations would be built in the first phase, according to the document. Eco-Wat is registered in Kiseljak.
