Montenegro adopts 45 projects for energy efficiency

A plan for refurbishment works on 45 public buildings for this year was accepted at the session of the Government of Montenegro, with a budget of EUR 10.84 million. The cabinet said the operational plan for energy efficiency improvement was adopted together with the report for last year. The plan was published on the government’s website.

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) financed the project with EUR 5 million for 12 to 14 medical facilities. Montenegro – Energy Efficiency Project – Additional Financing (MEEP AF) is the continuation of MEEP. The new funds cover makeover with construction works, new lighting and heating and cooling systems. MEEP AF was launched in April of 2014 and it expires on March 30 next year.

The second phase of programme Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings, phase 2 (EEPB 2), is implemented within bilateral cooperation where KfW Development Bank of Germany lended EUR 20 million and a donation of EUR 2.01 million for 36 buildings in the sectors of education, labour and social services and property management. The project started in January of 2015 and lasts six years.
