Prvo plinarsko društvo (PPD) will renew an Olympic-size swimming pool in Sisak in Croatia, portal Večernji list reported. The contract was signed between PPD ESCO, city officials and the Agency for Transactions and Mediation in Immovable Properties (APN).

The project is worth EUR 3 million without taxes. After the renewal, the building is expected to spend 51% less energy. The savings will be used to pay a fee to PPD ESCO over the next 14 years, so it is not a new burden for the city budget, according to the article.

The pool was built 25 years ago and since then it was only maintained. An analysis made by Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture showed the object is ideal for ESCO (energy savings company) project of renewal, and savings are expected to be significant.

The roof, walls and windows will be renewed, while heating and ventilation systems will be reconstructed. Even the old solar panels that were rotting in the basement for years will finally be installed on the parking lot, stressed Kristina Ikić Baniček, mayor of Sisak.

PPD ESCO won three more projects: renewal of hospital ‘Fran Mihaljević’ in Zagreb, the hospital in Varaždin and the Police Academy in Zagreb. The combined value of all four projects is EUR 16 million.
