Representatives of Možura d. o. o., landfill operator from Montenegro’s southern coastal municipality of Bar signed an agreement with a consortium of Indel inženjering d. o. o. from Podgorica and its partners from Slovenia to construct a facility for biogas aspiration, transport and combustion. The project worth EUR 300,000 has 150 days to be completed, while the second phase, the installation of a plant to turn the energy into electricity, will start next year, Bar info portal reported. According to the law, the methane must be collected and burned to prevent greenhouse effect.

„The tender was launched in late December. After a commission made no objections, the contractor was selected and I am pleased to say that the initial procedure of the biggest project of the year is on schedule,“ Možura’s head Dragan Simović said. He added project design is complete for waste selection and that it was financed with EUR 45,000 by the municipality. The plant site is also at Možura and the life of the landfill will be doubled due to recycling, according to Simović. The plan is to enable production of raw material, he stressed and added surrounding municipalities which use the landfill should come together for the project, together with the government.

Možura hill is the site of a future 46 MW wind power plant from an investment of EUR 80 million by Malta’s government-controlled company Enemalta Plc.
