Trusina wind farm to come online in summer of 2017

The construction of the first wind farm in the Republic of Srpska, in the village of Trusina near Nevesinje, will start in May, and the connection to the grid is expected in little over a year after that, in the words of Danko Končar, owner of London-based company Kermas Ltd. The investor set EUR 65 million for the project.

The concession for the construction of the 49.5 MW wind farm was awarded to local company Eol prvi doo in 2012, Radio Nevesinje’s portal reported. The town in the southeast of Bosnia and Herzegovina is nearby Trusina.

Wind speed in the location is significantly higher than the European average, which despite somewhat lower incentives for the price of electricity, makes this project profitable, Končar said.

Zlatko Mandžuka, head of Eol prvi, said that it took a lot of time to explore the potential of wind and to satisfy legal procedures, so that conditions were only now met to buy the equipment and launch works. He added Vestas would supply 15 turbines of 3.3 MW and that construction works are scheduled to be completed by October. The installation is scheduled to be finished by next summer, he stressed.

Municipality head Momčilo Šiljegović said the local authority is expected to regulate property issues in the location of the power facility and added necessary support was provided to the partners from the beginning. The project is worth BAM 145 million (EUR 74.2 million), where Kermas holds 87%, Eol prvi has a share of 10%, and Nevesinje municipality’s stake is 3%, according to the report.
