The Albanian Electricity Exchange – ALPEX reopened the tender for the selection of a provider of an electronic trading platform for the day-ahead and intraday markets as none of the bids met the criteria.

The Albanian Electricity Exchange was scheduled to start operating in the third quarter, but it faces a possible delay as it failed in the first attempt to procure an electronic trading platform. ALPEX issued a public call in March for providers but none of the offers matched the terms, so now it relaunched the tender, Monitor.al reported.

The international competitive procurement bid for an ‘Electronic Trading Platform for the Day-Ahead and Intraday Market and Services Required for the Operation of the Organized Market in Albania and Kosovo’ kept the maximum value at EUR 1.9 million.

USAID prepared the terms of reference for the tender

The specifications remained the same. USAID prepared the terms of reference for the tender. The system needs to include clearing, risk management and the interface.

The article adds Albania would stimulate trading at the electricity market with contracts for difference (CfDs) as an interim measure. ALPEX intends to implement the European Union’s so-called target model for the day-ahead and intraday markets.

Transmission system operator of Albania OST founded ALPEX in October with its counterpart KOSTT from Kosovo*.
