Swiss commodities and energy trader AOT Energy plans to install a 45 MW solar power plant and 3 MW hydrogen facility in Arad.

The hybrid energy system project will be implemented by domestic companies C-Gaz & Energy Distribuţie and Gas & Power Trading while AOT Energy will secure funds, according to Profit.ro.

The developers said they intend to start production of electricity in the solar photovoltaic facility in July 2022 .

The project will be developed on 69 hectares that belonged to CET Arad, the producer of electricity and heat controlled by the municipality.

The land was taken over by gas supplier C-Gaz & Energy Distribuţie on account of a debt of CET Arad for gas. Gas & Power Trading was also involved in the transaction. C-Gaz & Energy Distribuţie and Gas & Power Trading are owned by businessman Peter Braun.

The two companies signed a joint venture agreement for the Arad project, according to which C-Gaz provides the land and staff for the investment, while Gas & Power Trading would produce a feasibility study.

AOT Swiss group will fund the project, C-Gaz said.

A few months ago, chemicals producer Chimcomplex said it plans to build a hydrogen production plant at the location of the Oltchim plant in Vâlcea.
