A power link between Cyprus, Israel and Greece called the EuroAsia Interconnector would improve the potential of Cyprus and Israel to further develop renewable energy sources (RES), said Eitan Parnass, director general and founder of the Green Energy Association of Israel and secretary of Global Solar Council.

At a presentation about green energy and bilateral cooperation in Nicosia, organized by the Embassy of Israel in cooperation with the island state’s Ministry of Energy, he gave the assessment of the solar energy market, with a focus on the development of technologies to allow storage, Cyprus News Agency reported.

He highlighted renewable energy pilot projects by Israeli companies and how Cyprus could benefit from the technology. There are Israeli companies interested in investing in renewable energy there, Parnass said. He stressed the importance of renewables for Cyprus and Israel, since both countries have isolated electricity systems, largely dependent on fossil fuels.
