Slovenia’s utility HSE, power exchange Borzen get new management

Viktor Vračar is the new chief executive officer of power utility Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) while Martin Bratanič is the new general manager of Borzen.

Both companies are controlled by the state.

The Supervisory Board of Holding Slovenske Elektrarne decided to remove Stojan Nikolić from the post of the chief executive officer of HSE, together with Viktor Vračar and Mirko Marinčič, who were co-chief operating officers.

At the same time, Viktor Vračar was appointed as the CEO for a four-year term, while Uroš Podobnik, previously an assistant to the Management Board of HSE, became the chief operating officer for a four-year term.

Members of the Supervisory Board selected Andrej Janša as an interim co-chief operating officer, according to HSE.

Viktor Vračar has a PhD in the field of management and organisation and a graduate degree in electric engineering in process automation. He held executive posts in private companies including subsidies of ThyssenKrupp.

Martin Bratanič is the new general manager of Slovenian power market operator Borzen

According to Vračar’s biography, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of HSE from 2016 to 2019.

As of November 1, Martin Bratanič is the new general manager of Slovenian power market operator Borzen. He was appointed by the Supervisory Board of the power exchange firm for a five-year mandate.

Bratanič has headed Regional Development Agency Posavje from 2010, and since April of this year he has been the President of the Supervisory Board of Slovenia’s distribution system operator SODO.

Bratanič was also head of cabinet of the Environment and Spatial Planning Minister Andrej Vizjak when he was the Minister of the Economy (2004-2008).
