Power distribution companies Elektro Celje, Elektro Gorenjska and Elektro Ljubljana have joined the consortium for the promotion and acceleration of the green transformation of the Slovenian energy sector.

The consortium was established in September by power utilities ELES and GEN-I with the aim of decarbonizing Slovenia by 2050.

The identification of the need to link stakeholders for the successful integration of green and smart technologies was the driving force behind the establishment of the consortium, GEN-I said on its website.

Three Slovenian electricity distributors recognized and supported the idea of linking stakeholders in order to implement more advanced solutions. By signing a declaration of accession, the three companies became associated partners of the consortium.

The implementation of research and development projects, the conducting of studies and the preparation of calculations for the purpose of implementing joint projects, and the execution of joint promotional activities will make it easier for the consortium’s partners to achieve established objectives and ensure future generations enjoy higher-quality living conditions, GEN-I said.

ELES and GEN-I signed the consortium agreement on the acceleration of the green transformation of the Slovenian energy sector with the help of smart grids. The goal of the founding companies was to promote cooperation in development projects and to invite several stakeholders from the Slovenian energy sector to contribute knowledge and ideas for the achievement of their common objectives of a green transformation and transition to a low-carbon society.
