Vasko Kovačevski is the new Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of North Macedonia’s state-owned electricity producer Elektrani na Severna Makedonija (ESM – former ELEM), the company said on its website.

The Supervisory Board of ESM has appointed Vasko Kovačevski as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO, the company said.

The Supervisory Board followed the recommendation of North Macedonia’s government in appointing the new CEO. A week ago, the government decided to relieve about 40 CEOs and members of supervisory boards and boards of directors at state-owned and state-controlled companies, agencies and institutions.

Kovačevski replaced Dragan Minovski, who had led the company from August 2017 as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of ESM.

Kovačevski is a thermal energy engineer. Prior to appointment as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of ESM, he served as general manager of REK Bitola, the largest unit of ESM and the company’s largest electricity producer.

The new general manager of REK Bitola will be appointed by the Supervisory Board.

Kovačevski became general manager of REK Bitola in December 2017.
