Cultural organization Mikser is organizing the Mikser Festival’s jubilee 10th edition from May 24 to 26 in Belgrade, Serbia. The festival is being held under the slogan “Circulate,” symbolizing the organization’s strategic partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Serbia in launching a Platform for Circular Economy in Serbia, which would open a new chapter and allow for collaboration between the cultural, creative and IT sector and sustainable development experts.

The festival, to be held on multiple locations in Lower Dorćol, will bring together more than 500 participants through nine program areas (Mikser Festival 2019), including the international Shift conference, the Circulaton workshop, Innovation Expo, the Design Hub, CirculArt, Food for the Future, Eco Bazar, Mikser Kids, and musical performances on the open stage of Dorćol Platz.

According to the organizers, the essence of the festival is the international Shift conference, which will gather some of the most prominent local and European experts, policymakers and changemakers who work towards a more sustainable and circular culture, as well as the representatives of all relevant local institutions who should be addressing this topic in Serbia.

Some of the key experts in the field will exchange their knowledge and experience with their peers from the Balkans, through presentations, discussions and workshops of the Shift conference, according to the organizers. These experts include Gunter Pauli from Belgium, a member of the Roman club and creator of the Blue Economy concept, Ladeja Godina Košir, a circular economy enabler in Slovenia and Central and Eastern Europe, Kari Herlevi, director of the department for circular economy at the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, and Tjaša Ficko, deputy mayor of Ljubljana, Slovenia and the person behind the Ljubljana European Green Capital project.

As part of the Innovation Expo, which will take place on the grounds of the Museum of Science and Technology, innovators, companies, civil society organizations, and green startups will all present their inspirational environmental protection solutions, according to the organizers. These will include ideas spanning the design of eco products and materials, modern solutions for agriculture and forestation, recycling, rational water use, renewable energy sources, digitalization and smart city solutions, robotics, smart vehicles and other innovations in everyday life and business.

Region’s young designers to showcase prototypes inspired by circular philosophy

Mikser continues its open-door policy for young talents from creative fields.

The most impressive jury selection so far of the Young Balkan Designers contest, led by one of the leading German and world-renowned contemporary industrial designers, Konstantin Grčić, is taking Mikser back to its origins – design, according to the organizers.

For the first time, the festival will showcase in a single space the prototypes of young designers from the entire region inspired by circular philosophy. Of the 38 works selected, 12 are from Serbia.
