The Serbian government has adopted a decision to set up a working group for strategic energy projects.

The decision was adopted in line with the decree on a program for the implementation of Serbia’s Energy Sector Development Strategy until 2025 with projections until 2030, eKapija reported.

The working group is in charge of developing a decision-making scheme for the construction of energy facilities, as well as reviewing requests from project promoters.

The working group will further propose lists of candidates for strategic energy projects and draft laws to regulate matters pertaining to projects.

Furthermore, the working group will monitor the realization of strategic energy projects and prepare annual reports for each of the projects in the electricity and natural gas sectors and submit them to the Energy Community (EnC) Secretariat.

The working group will also cooperate with the Projects of Energy Community Interest (PECI) coordinator and other stakeholders, as well as keep track of activities of relevant authorities concerning decisions on the construction of energy facilities to ensure deadlines are met.

Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antić has been named chairman of the working group, while State Secretary at the Ministry of Mining and Energy Mirjana Filipović is the working group’s deputy chairwoman.
