Electricity Transmission System Operator of Macedonia (MEPSO) has announced a call for EUR 14 million tender over construction of four new 110 kV transmission lines over a 100 km-long power network.

The tender is open to companies from all over the world. Deadline for applications is April 16. Tenderers may bid for all 4 lots.

The rehabilitation work at existing routes involves linking transmission stations Bitola 1-Prilep, Skoplje 4-Veles, Štip-Ovčje Polje and Veles-Ovčje Polje, MEPSO announced. All these transmission lines are 50 years old and set on concrete pillars.

The contractors have to, among other obligations, design and prepare technical documentations, supply the materials and equipment, construct the access roads, install, test and commission the facilities.

The work is scheduled to start at the beginning of July 2018 and to last about 18 months. It will be financed by MEPSO’s funds and a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The tender will be conducted by e-procurement using the EBRD Client E-Procurement Portal (ECEPP), where interested firms can register.

This construction work is the part of the investment cycle in revitalization of the network, worth more than EUR 50 million. It started about six months ago, when MEPSO and the consortium of Siemens and SisKon signed a contract on revitalization of Dubrovo 400/110kV substation, worth EUR 4.6 million.

The investment cycle also includes a new 110 kV transmission line linking transformer stations Štip and Probitštip and reconstruction of four transformer stations  – Bitola, Valandovo 2, Oslomej and Skopje 4, worth about EUR 8 million, as well as the procurement and installation of new equipment for transformation stations in hydro-plants Globočica,  Špilje, Vrutok and Tikveš.
