The Energy Community Regulatory Board (ECRB) elected Giorgi Pangani as its President for the years 2018 and 2019, the Energy Community Secretariat said in a statement after ECRB’s session.

Former President Branislav Prelević was first elected in December 2013. His mandate expired at the end of 2017.

A lawyer by profession, Pangani is working for the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission since 2010. Becoming Commissioner in 2015, his current responsibilities include transposition of the Energy Community acquis communautaire into Georgian legislation and stakeholder coordination.

“I am honored by the confidence my ECRB colleagues have placed in me. I am very much looking forward to continuing our excellent cooperation on regulatory issues of regional significance. Building on the expertise and experience established over the past years, I trust that, together, we can make the ECRB even stronger”, newly elected President said.

In 2005 Pangani graduated from Tbilisi State University, Faculty of International Law. From 2005 till 2008 he worked for Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission. He joined JSC “Telasi” in 2008 where he was a lawyer till 2010 when he returned to Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission.

ECRB also adopted a number of documents, among which an in-depth monitoring report on the developments of the Contracting Parties’ electricity and gas retail markets, compliance reviews of the transparency acquis in electricity and gas as well as a report monitoring cross-border transmission capacity allocation in electricity. ECRB also published its Work Programme 2018.

The Energy Community Regulatory Board advises the Energy Community Ministerial Council and Permanent High Level Group on details of statutory, technical and regulatory rules and makes recommendations in the case of cross-border disputes between regulators. ECRB is the independent regional body of energy regulators in the Energy Community and beyond.
