The very first charger for electric vehicles (EV) has been introduced in Novi Sad. Charging is free and the charging station is located on the google map.

The charger is installed at parking lot in front of the ProCredit Bank branch in the center of the city. Public utility Parking Servis Novi Sad and ProCredit bank invested EUR 1.500 in the city’s first EV charger.

This charger is suitable for almost all EV models. The charging station will be located on the google map thus help drivers make tracking down of Novi Sad’s EV charging stations. Time to charge an electric car takes about one hour. Under normal conditions, electric car with the full battery can travel up to 160 km.

Stevan Lugonja, director of Parking Service, said that charging is free. For the moment, he said, users are mostly tourists. There are only 4 electric vehicles in Novi Sad, according to local media.

The first charger for electric vehicles on a motorway in Serbia was introduced on the toll station Preševo, on the border with Macedonia.

That was the first of five chargers that were expected to be installed, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure announced then. All of them were to be the latest generation and provide also free Wi-Fi internet connection. Up to three vehicles can charge simultaneously at one charging station.

The rest of them were on the toll station Šid, on the border with Croatia; on the Corridor 10, on the toll station Bubanj potok near Belgrade; at the station Dimitrovgrad, on the border with Bulgaria; and at the station Subotica South, on the border with Hungary.

Last summer, six chargers were introduced at public smart parking lot in downtown Belgrade. Six 22 kW chargers with alternative current for electric cars are included in the service, and solar panels on the roof are supplying the LED (light-emitting diode) equipment.
