The Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure has been awarded through ELENA program a EUR 1.7 million non-refundable aid for energy reconstruction and renovation projects for the public sector buildings.

ELENA (European Local Energy Assistance) is a joint initiative of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 program. It provides grants for technical assistance focused on the implementation of energy efficiency, distributed renewable energy and urban transport projects and programs.

The European Commission announced earlier that EUR 1.7 million grant for the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure is to be used for energy refurbishment projects for public sector buildings.

The Ministry of Infrastructure invited earlier this year proposals for energy renewal and reconstruction of public sector buildings for the period 2017-2019 to be co-financed under the Operating Program of the European Cohesion Policy for the 2014-2020 period.

Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana  agreed in April this year to a public-private partnership (PPP) with a consortium comprising GGE d.o.o. and Petrol d.d. for the energy retrofitting of public buildings in the municipality. It has been considered the largest deal of its kind so far in Slovenia in the field of energy services, with investment worth EUR 14.9 million in total. A part of the financing for this project will be provided through ELENA program.
