The Innoenergy company is organizing its PowerUp! Competition for projects in the field of sustainable energy which brings the authors of winning projects money prizes and access to the start up accelerator Highway® by InnoEnergy. The rewards for the top three projects range from EUR 5,000 to EUR 20,000 with the added possibility of investments of up to EUR 150,000 in selected projects.

Applications are made through the powerup.innoenergy.com web site until September 11. This is the third time that Innoenergy is organizing the competition for start ups in 23 countries of Europe, the Baltic and Mediterranean regions.

The PowerUp! Competition for innovative ideas in sustainable energy is open to applicants from Bulgaria, Albania, Croatia, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Estonia, Macedonia, Greece, Georgia, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Latvia, Serbia, Lithuania, Turkey, Ukraine, Poland, Cyprus, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania.

Last year’s winning projects were about solar power, heat pumps and energy efficiency and savings. Those projects won rewards but also won the chance to get new knowledge necessary for their authors to continue doing business, support to develop and protect their projects, access to markets and financing and contacts with other companies in the field of renewable energy as well as an opportunity to find mentors in bigger companies.

Competition organizer and director of InnoEnergy Poland Plus Jakub Miler said that the projects entering in the competition could become part of the efforts to protect the environment in Europe and added that they could gain global influence following commercialization with the help of InnoEnergy.

Miler said that main goal of the competition is to provide support to innovations in the energy field at all levels of development from idea to presentation of final products to users and possible investors.

The competition will be held in three stages. In the first stage, applications will be made on the web site in English by September 11. In the second stage, entrants who qualify will take part in workshops to learn new business skills and the jury will select projects for the first finals. In the third stage, participants will attend workshops and presentations and meet coaches and mentors from leading energy companies as well as people from other startups with a Final Gala held in Budapest.
