Malibunar windpark to be completed in 2017, Alibunar construction starts soon

Aleksandar Antić,  Minister of mining and energy has met today Nicolas Brynooghe, director of Belgium company Elicio and talked with him about the development and construction of wind parks Malibunar and Alibunar.

Minister Antić emphasized that the Ministry of mining and energy is committed to improving regulatory framework in order to contribute to the projects’ completion. The Minister also said that Serbia is firmly committed to developing renewable energy projects in order to reach binding international targets, according to the statement at the ministry’s website.

“It is my pleasure to hear that Malibunar and Alibunar projects have been developing according to the planned dynamics. This indicates that the investors perceive Serbia as a reliable partner. The fact that big IFIs, such as IFC, are ready to finance renewable energy projects in Serbia, proves that Serbia has become a safe investments destination”, according to Minister Antić.

Director of Elicio company expressed satisfaction with the successful cooperation with the ministry and thanked it for the efforts it made in renewables promotion as well as for the overall improvement of investment climate. He informed the minister that domestic companies started the construction of 8 MW Malibunar wind park, that is expected to become operation until the end of the year.

“We are soon to start the construction of Alibunar wind park with a capacity of 42 MW. We will finance the project in cooperation with IFC and therefore it is very important for us to demonstrate in the presence of IFC Regional Director Thomas Lubeck that we have had highly professional cooperation with the Ministry of mining and energy “, said Nicolas Brynooghe,  director of Elicio.
